Home > News > India India ; Couple killed in cyclone in Meghalaya: Tuesday, March 22, 2005 [India News] Shillong: A couple was killed and their five children were injured when a cyclone hit West Khasi Hills, leaving a trail of destruction at Riangmang village of Nongshiliang, under Mairang Civil Sub-Division, according to reports reaching here today. An official report here said the cyclone occurred on Saturday night when most of the villagers were asleep. It also hit Diengiei Peak at about 2300 hrs on March 19. Desaw village was the worst affected where 70 houses and a church building was damaged. The cyclone uprooted trees and electric poles but no loss of life was reported.
